Informational blog

I recently did some research on football and I got some information from varies websites. The first website I found was on History. National Football League today is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, but its origins as the American Professional Football Association were much more humble. As a new NFL season kicks off, look back at the league’s inaugural 1920 campaign, which featured its birth in an Ohio auto dealership, teams in cities such as Decatur and Muncie and the crowning of a champion four months after the last snap was taken.

The league began play in 1920 and comprised five teams from Ohio (Akron Pros, Canton Bulldogs, Cleveland Tigers, Columbus Panhandlers, and Dayton Triangles), four teams from Illinois (Chicago Tigers, Decatur Staley's, Racine Cardinals [the Cardinals were based in Chicago but took the name of a local street], and Rock Island Independents), two from Indiana (Hammond Pros and Muncie Flyers), two from New York (Buffalo All-Americans and Rochester Jefferson's), and the Detroit Heralds from Michigan. Of these original franchises, only two remain: the Cardinals left Chicago for St. Louis after the 1959 season and relocated to Arizona in 1988; the Decatur Staley's moved to Chicago in 1921 and a year later changed their name to the Bears.

This explains the different internships and program they have at the league. This is your opportunity to catch a rare glimpse into the NFL's playbook of business strategies. Learn how the world's leading sports business, media and entertainment company integrates its rich tradition with innovative approaches to entertain over 120 million fans each week during the season. Headquartered in New York City, the National Football League is an organization designed to support its 32 member clubs on a variety of business, legal and operational matters.

If you are a football beginner, one of your biggest obstacles to achieving full enjoyment of the game is likely understanding football rules.  While learning NFL rules may take some time, knowing the basic football rules can dramatically increase one's enjoyment of the game.  Below we explain NFL rules basics for beginners.  If you are not a beginner, please go straight to part 2 of our rules tutorial, where we explain some of the more difficult and controversial football rules and specific NFL rules.

The leap from high school football to college football crushes the dreams of many, many hometown football heroes. Only 3-4% of high school players get the opportunity to play college football, and those players are not necessarily the most talented or athletically gifted. To be recruited by any college (not just one that Lee Corso occasionally visits on Saturday mornings), players need to catch the eye of the coach, and then prove to have the combination of athletic ability, mental toughness, and intelligence (both on the football field and in the classroom—the work ethic that one applies to schoolwork counts, too) to keep the coach’s attention. And even then, if the player's skills don't match up with exactly what the coach is looking for, he's probably going to be part of the 96% who only pick up footballs that say "NERF" on the side.
